The Carnavalet is the museum of the history of Paris and is housed in a magnificent 17th-century palace, along with some stunning formal gardens. It was also deeply affected during the Holocaust, and its postwar revival is a testament to the resilience of its community.
A few blocks south, on Rue Geoffroy l’Asnier, is the Mémorial de la Shoah, France’s primary Holocaust memorial and documentation center.
